Send money to friends or family. You can conveniently send money to friends or family using MSGCU’s Send Money feature. Select Menu from the navigation bar. In the MSGCU Mobile App, select Send Money from the Payments section. In online banking, Send Money will be available in the Transfers and Payments navigation menu. Enter the amount to send. Then input the name of the person you want to pay. You can also select the individual’s name from the dropdown if you’ve paid them before. Fill in the recipient’s phone number or email address, if needed. You may also add an optional message. The recipient will see this message. For added security, you will create a secret word or phrase to share with your payee. They will need to enter this when accepting their payment. For your security, you’ll also need to enter a one-time code to verify your identity and complete the transaction. Make sure to share the secret word or phrase with your recipient. They can’t collect their payment without it. Collecting the payment. To collect the payment, your recipient will simply follow the link received via text or email. No signup is needed. They will first input the secret word or phrase you choose when setting up the payment. Payment can be deposited to a bank account or debit card. A debit card is the fastest way to receive funds. Your recipient will fill in the fields for their preferred receiving method. Payment must be claimed within 10 days. After that, it will automatically be cancelled, and the funds will be returned to your MSGCU Checking account. It can take up to one to two business days for the payment to process in your payee’s account after being claimed. You will see the funds deducted from your account even sooner – sometimes even the same day. Finding the secret word or cancelling a payment. If you forgot the secret phrase or need to cancel a payment, both are easy to do. Select Send Money from the menu. Select View Payments, and then the specific transaction. The secret word or phrase is displayed with the rest of your payment details. You can cancel a payment if your recipient has not claimed the money by selecting the “cancel this payment” button.
